One of the UK's premier railway engineering companies having gone
through the 5-year process of privatisation. Their key client had
always required technical skills to be certificated. However, having
decided that management and leadership skills were a source of
concern, the requirement for them to be assessed was built into
the new contract. This resulted in a programme which assessed and
developed a total of 300 managers and supervisors.
What we did
Worked with a senior management/director level project team to
design and deliver:
- Job Analysis - identifying what competencies
managers, at all levels, required
- Assessment Centres – designing
and delivering assessment centres to measure individuals against
identified competencies.
This included development of the senior team as assessors.
- Programme
Design – our consultants designed two programmes,
a Leadership Programme targeted at senior managers and a Management
Programme targeted at middle, junior managers and supervisors.
- Programme Delivery – these programmes were then dovetailed
into the Annual Training and Development plan
- Evaluation – our
consultants constantly measure the programme's outputs against
the business measures identified and, in partnership
with the business, adapt the programme to suit
